Mario Bertoncini was born in Rome in 1931 and died only a little over a month ago. He was a pianist, composer, music educator, and instrument builder. The above video is taken from an album of his sonic Aeolian harp sculptures that use wind to create tonal and textural soundscapes. Now, here is a project the world desperately needs! Vinyltryk is a record-pressing plant in Denmark, servicing both local and international artists and labels with everything from long runs to custom, limited-edition pressings. (more…)

Touring is great. But it can very quickly turn into exhaustive, monotonous work. Here are 10 great tips to keep things interesting and fun on the road. XLR microphones have an analog output, as opposed to the digital output of USB, which means they require a recording interface to record to your computer. But analog outputs can connect to external audio gear like mixers, which allow you to balance the level of multiple microphones when recording live, and utilize pre-amps if necessary to boost the gain at source.
